My name is Michele Treanor and I am a qualified horticulturist & florist – but of all
things I am a sentimental romantic. I believe that flowers can play an important &
symbolic role in all of life’s special occasions, both happy and sad.

I established my floristry business, The Petal Plot in 2021 during the Covid
Pandemic. Life and the 2008 Downturn had taken me out of my chosen field and into
an office based career. I truly relished the covid lockdown time and found myself
pouring my heart, soul and green fingers back into horticulture. My love for growing
is rooted deep within me and stems from the women in my life. I have a passion for
growing fruit and veg which has been instilled in me from childhood from my “Granny
Maggie” who lived through 2 pandemics and a world war, to the ripe old age of 103.
My Mother is also a very keen gardener and her willingness to give anything a go is
an inspiration to me.

The Petal Plot is based at my home in the Drumlin County of Monaghan, on an
exposed, elevated site at eye level with Sliabh Beagh. My growing capacity is
greatly assisted by my longstanding polytunnel , prizewinning glasshouse, raised
beds and perennial borders. My soil is heavy clay, which I am gradually improving
each year by the addition of my own homemade compost and leaf-mould. If you
follow my social media pages you will catch me at my happiest when I am sharing
my garden trials and tribulations!!

Alongside the traditional, commercial cut flowers available, here at The Petal Plot, I
propagate and grow seasonal cut flowers to add to bouquets and arrangements, in
both fresh and dried flowers. I also source materials from professional growers and
suppliers, and all foliage used is sustainably grown in Ireland.  Each year, I expand
the range of seasonal cut flowers that I propagate and grow here at The Petal Plot,
offering an ever increasing range of seasonal, sustainable and locally grown flowers.

As a Wedding Florist, I create bespoke Bridal Bouquets offering a full range of both
Fresh and Dried Flowers.  Online consultations are available by appointment,
following which I work with your dreams and visions in mind to create a bespoke
design for you, one that will enhance the style, season and personality of your
wedding day. I have developed a passion for Everlasting Bridal Bouquets and I have
created some beautiful and bespoke pieces for some beautiful bridal parties.
Everlasting Bouquets, if cared for, can be kept as a sentimental keepsake of your
special day.

I have also developed a popular range of Dried Flower Bunches and Bouquets for
selected Craft Shops in Ireland, including an exclusive range of 100% Irish Grown
Dried Flowers & Materials. These are lovingly called the “For Eire” range, as these
are designed using the Colours of the Suffragette movement –

Purple for loyalty and dignity, White for purity and Green for hope.

Flowers by women, for women and
inspired by women.

I hope you enjoy my story and my products.

Michele
