When wedding suppliers get together to help each other grow – can you imagine it !!!
The Petal Plot has been part of 3 wedding photoshoots so far this year and I have loved every minute of it all ! What an eye opening experience they have been for me – all things “Bridal” having petrified me for most of my life. Get this…… I fainted at my brother’s wedding rehearsal, where the role of Bridesmaid almost proved too much for me! I improved slightly when I had the same role to play for my sister ….but both events only secured my decision that if my day ever did come….I would not be walking up any aisle in any white frock!!!!
So, on 02.09.2016 my day did come, and I played 9 holes of golf to avoid having to do too much of the wedding morning thing. Afterwards, I happily & quietly isolated in a lovely hot bath filled with rose petals at The Nuremore Hotel (sadly with us no longer). Then….it started…. I endured an hour or two of beauty prep…. definitely out of my comfort zone – but I was so glad to see my dedicated hairdresser arrive to the room with her armament of equipment and her injured leg in a boot!! I knew she knew me & this mattered. So, dressed in a gorgeous black 2 piece, I walked on my Dad’s arm into a room with just our families and said “I do” to Kevin’s “half a farm of land” joke!
I tell you this story to give you an insight into how different this wedding scene is to me! I have watched models happily sit for long stretches while hairdressers & make-up artists preen and polish them, with chats and clatter of trends and products, and they love it! Then these girls are fitted into glorious gowns & accessories by bridal fashion experts and then stand perfectly posed, with perfect smiles for photographers who subtly scrutinize every tiny detail!!!
My role in all of this has been to provide bouquets and arrangements to add to the finishing touches of the final portfolio. This I can do! But true to my own form, I do this with her comfort in mind, yes a bridal bouquet needs to compliment the Bride, but without overpowering the whole look. It also needs to be comfortable to hold so she may be at ease for the photographer.
From my own experience, no matter how different from the norm it was, I know how much it matters to brides on their wedding morning that they are surrounded with people who fit with them. I see it each time I deliver to a Bride on her wedding morning, I see and feel the bond between the wedding professionals and the bride and her family and I know that together we are doing a job greater than the styling itself. The proof is in the photos.
I am delighted with the outcome and feedback I have had from these photoshoots and I am looking forward to another season of growth at The Petal Plot.

This is a lovely piece Michele and I know how much heart and soul you put into the bride and her wedding party’s flower arrangements. You have a great way with the words also.
Thank you…..when I get the time I do enjoy the bit of writing. There is a book in there somewhere if I get to find the time!
